Join Westside Grows for the 10 year anniversary of their annual MLK Jr. Day Clean Up, Peace March, and Celebration!
West Side Grows Together in partnership with the Teen Warehouse, Be Ready CDC, Delaware Art Museum, Delaware Nature Society, Guerilla Republik, 302 Guns Down, Network Connect, Wilmington Peacekeepers, and the City of Wilmington will host the 10th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Clean Up, Peace March, and Celebration on Monday, January 17th and Monday, February 21st, 2022. The theme this year is “Celebrate the MLKing in You: Living the Legacy”.
A community clean up will commence in the area surrounding the 7th Street Bridge at 11am on January 17th.
On February 21st, we are hosting a 1.5 mile peace march. The march will recognize significant landmarks along the corridors of the West Side and West Center City including the newly painted 8th Street Bridge mural, “Connecting Us”, the Social Justice Alliance mural at the LACC’s Manuelita Olson Building, MLK Jr. Boulevard, and residential neighborhoods on both sides of I-95. After the march, an outdoor celebration will occur back on the bridge featuring local artists, live music, special guest speakers, community resources, advocacy opportunities, family-friendly activities, and a free community meal.
