Enjoy an ideal garden walk and listen to stories of the planning, design and construction of Rockwood’s unique Gothic revival mansion and Picturesque landscapes. The tour guide will give information about the biography of Rockwood’s first owner, Joseph Shipley, and the history of British and American architecture at this time to create context for this preserved rural oasis. Highlights will include one of the oldest attached conservatories in America, Rockwood’s Heritage Garden of 19th-century trees and one of the best preserved ha-ha walls outside of Great Britain. This tour pairs very well with the Guided Museum Tour of the interiors. Folding chairs are recommended. Ages 14 and up. Pre-registration required.
