To celebrate both National Poetry Month and the beginning of Spring, Resident Poet David P. Kozinski and guest poets Franetta McMillian and Amanda Newell will read from their work. Kozinski debuted his new collection of poems, I Hear It the Way I Want It to Be, at Rockwood in February and will offer samplings from it and his other books. McMillian’s writing and artwork have been featured in many print and online publications, including Quartet, Dreamstreets, Gargoyle, The Broadkill Review, and H2S04. She also publishes the zine Fat Black Girl in a Wheelchair. Newell’s chapbook, I Will Pass Even to Acheron, was selected as a 2021 winner of the Rattle Chapbook Prize. A past recipient of the Dogfish Head Poetry Prize, her first full-length collection, Postmortem Say, is forthcoming in 2023 from Červená Barva Press. An “open mic” and Q & A will follow the featured poets’ readings.
