Since we had to cancel our annual Shakespeare Day in downtown Milford on 4/16, we are doing what folks all over the world are doing: finding a creative way to celebrate a birthday!

For our 5th Annual Shakespeare Day, a Del Shakes tradition which celebrates the Bard’s birthday, we’re taking the party ONLINE—Saturday, May 2 at 2pm on Facebook Live.

Del Shakes typically presents a speed-round of every single play Shakespeare ever wrote in the course of one hour, using volunteers from all walks of life on Shakespeare Day. 38 plays. From All’s Well that Ends Well to The Winter’s Tale.

We’ve had pastors. Drummers. Teachers. Writers. Media. Homeschoolers. Ice cream makers. Brewmasters. All stepping up to the mic for their 15 seconds of Shakespeare glory. (We are particularly hoping to recruit some first responders to take a quick Shakespeare break and join us for a few lines. If you would like to introduce us to someone, visit our website and/or email Some segments can be pre-recorded.)

It’s a whirlwind group activity – a fun, light-hearted event that honors the dizzying diversity and vitality of Shakespeare’s writing, and our community. It’s kid friendly, too! This year’s quotes will aim to focus on the themes of thanks, togetherness, and healing.

To be in our virtual audience, just visit our Facebook page on May 2 at 2pm and click our live video. Comment and react while we are live! Or watch it later on your own time.
