Description
Join the Choir School of Delaware and Children’s Chorus of Washington DC in Wilmington for a performance of spirituals commemorating Juneteenth. This is a stop on the “Stand Up Tour,” which follows Harriet Tubman’s route on the Underground Railroad.
The event will begin with a group sing of spirituals at the 18th-century Meeting House before heading to the Riverfront to lay a wreath at the statue of Harriet Tubman and Thomas Garrett.
This ceremony is free and open to the public.
The Stand Up: Harriet Tubman Tour commemorates the 200th anniversary of Harriet Tubman’s birth. Starting in Washington DC, the combined chorus will follow the path of the Underground Railroad through Cambridge, MD; Wilmington, DE; Philadelphia, PA; and complete their journey in Easton, PA.
This tour will be a powerful opportunity to educate, collaborate, and affect lasting change through music and the arts.
